About
TH Enterprises started as an IT service for non-technical people. We specialize in increasing the average non-technical person's online safety.
While we are not security experts, we can help you increase your awareness of security and privacy online. We can also help you ensure that your digital information is backed up regularly.
Services
We offer the following services:
Computer maintenance
- Backup services
- We will set up a a regular backup scheme for you and can help you perform backups at regular intervals. (Or remind you to perform the backups yourself!)
- E-mail management
- We can help you clean up and archive old e-mails so that you have a clean inbox, but are still able to access needed information.
- Update management
- We will check your computer for needed updates and apply them. We can also troubleshoot issues with updates.
- Minor hardware repairs
- Depending on the type of computer you have, we may be able to perform minor repairs to extend the life of your desktop computer or laptop. If we cannot do repairs, we can assist you in choosing a new machine and can set it up, transferring your old files to your new computer.
- Antivirus for Windows computers
- We recommend Webroot and can deploy it to your computer as a managed service.
- Linux as a replacement for Windows
- Linux is a family of operating systems, as Windows and Mac OS are other varieties of operating system. While Windows 10 and 11 cost something, and Mac OS requires a Mac computer, and both Windows and Mac OS are closed-source operating systems, most Linux operating systems are both free in cost and open-source.
- Both Windows and Mac OS have telemetry that reports back to Microsoft and Apple, respectively. Linux operating systems, for the most part, respect your privacy and autonomy.
- We can help you transition from Windows 10/11 to Linux (generally Linux Mint) if you want to move away from an operating system that does not respect your privacy to one that does.
- There are certain Windows programs that cannot be used with Linux except by setting up a special environment within the Linux operating system. We can review the Windows programs that you need to use and can either recommend replacements or we can test running those programs in special environments before you decide to transition from Windows to Linux.
- Mobile devices
- We can advise you on how to back up your Android mobile devices and can set those backups up for you.
Training
- Backups
- We can show you how to set up backups on your own, and how to manage them on an ongoing basis.
- E-mail management
- We can show you how to have access to all of your e-mail outside of a webmail service, such as Gmail. While Gmail access via a webpage can be useful, it is somewhat limiting, as far as maintaining access to historical e-mails for future reference. We can show you how to set up Thunderbird, an open-source, free e-mail client that will allow you to download and archive your e-mails for as long as you want to keep them.
- Protecting your privacy and security online
- We can educate you on the basics of protecting yourself and your personal information online. We can also explain the benefits of using a password manager, and get you started with Bitwarden.
- We can help get you started with secure messaging apps like Signal so that your communications with your loved ones are safe from prying eyes.
- We can also help you set up your browser to maximize your safety and minimize trackers.
